Furniture for primary school classrooms must be adapted to the different ways in which pupils learn. Throughout the school day, pupils carry out individual tasks, take part in lessons, work in teams and share ideas with the rest of the class. For this reason, the layout of the space and the choice of school furniture play an important role in the delivery of each activity.
School furniture for primary schools must be comfortable, durable and, above all, flexible. Having desks that allow for different configurations, chairs that are easy to move, functional cupboards and mobile whiteboards helps to adapt the classroom to the needs of both pupils and teachers.
Below, we present two proposals for furnishing a primary school classroom: a U-shaped configuration, suitable for combining individual work and participation, and a group-based layout, designed to encourage cooperative learning.
U-shaped classroom: individual work and participation
The U-shaped arrangement of the desks ensures that each pupil has their own workspace, whilst maintaining eye contact with the teacher and the rest of their classmates.
The Square school desk, with its individual rectangular worktop, can be placed alongside other units to create this layout. This allows pupils to concentrate on their individual tasks, whilst also taking part in discussions, explanations or group activities. Furthermore, the desks can be easily moved apart to form pairs or small working groups. This versatility makes it possible to transform the space without having to replace the furniture.
The Rectangle Teacher’s desk becomes the teacher’s focal point within the classroom. Its position can be integrated into the U-shaped layout, facilitating communication and monitoring of pupils’ work.
The range is completed by the Lia Castors school chair, fitted with four castors and the Document Grid accessory. Its mobility makes it easy to move around and allows the classroom to be quickly reorganised depending on the activity.

School cabinets: storage solutions for a tidy classroom
Storage is also essential in primary school classrooms. Having different types of school cupboards allows materials to be organised and keeps work areas tidy.
The Grace cabinet, which is low in height and features drawers, is ideal for organising items, school supplies and everyday belongings. Its design allows it to be integrated into different areas of the classroom without cluttering the space.
Meanwhile, the Flora cabinet combines closed compartments and open shelving. This layout makes it easy to store books, documents, teaching materials and teachers’ belongings in an organised and accessible manner.
Classroom with Hexa desks for cooperative learning
The second proposal is designed for group work. The Hexa school desk allows for groups of six pupils to be formed, creating a shared workspace that encourages communication, collaboration and the exchange of ideas.
Each pupil has their own space, but works alongside their classmates. This layout is ideal for projects, creative activities, collaborative problem-solving or methodologies based on cooperative learning. Furthermore, the Hexa desk is stackable, allowing space to be freed up when an activity requires a larger area.
The set is complemented by the Lia Cantilever school chair, which can be placed on top of the desk to make cleaning easier and keep the classroom tidier at the end of the day.

A portable whiteboard to make learning more engaging
The Mogi classroom whiteboard brings even greater flexibility to the classroom. Thanks to its wheels, it can be moved around and positioned close to the pupils depending on the dynamics of the lesson.
Its double-sided magnetic surface offers ample space for writing, drawing, presenting content or sharing each group’s results. It is a practical solution for fostering creativity, participation and active learning.
Flexible furniture for primary school classrooms
Not all activities in primary school classrooms require the same layout. A U-shaped layout encourages concentration and participation, whilst grouped desks facilitate teamwork.
Mirplay School’s flexible school furniture allows you to create primary school classrooms that are tidy, functional and ready to adapt to different ways of learning. Spaces where pupils can work independently, participate and collaborate throughout their primary school years.
